Miso Butter Pasta Recipe (Easy, Umami-Rich)
Miso butter pasta is a Japanese-inspired pasta made by emulsifying miso, butter and starchy pasta water into a rich, savory sauce. With Pastacraft Miso Butter Sauce Starter, you can make it at home in about 20 minutes. It serves 4 to 6.

Ingredients
- 1 lb pasta (spaghetti, linguine or your favorite shape)
- 1 pouch Pastacraft Miso Butter Sauce Starter
- 5 tbsp butter, plus a pat for finishing
- 1 cup starchy pasta water, plus more as needed
- Freshly grated Parmesan or sliced scallions, to garnish
Instructions
- Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente. Save 1½ cups of pasta water, then drain.
- In a pan over medium heat, add the butter and 1 cup of pasta water. Whisk in the sauce starter. Add more pasta water for a thinner sauce.
- Toss in the cooked pasta with a pat of butter for extra gloss.
- Garnish with Parmesan or scallions and serve right away.

- Add mushrooms, spinach or bok choy for vegetables.
- Top with salmon, shrimp, chicken or a jammy egg for protein.
- The sauce is mild, not spicy. Add chili flakes if you like heat.
